Toronto Common is excited to announce a special invite to That’s Life Gourmet‘s Summer Tasting Series.
That’s Life Gourmet is celebrating summer with a series of tasting events that feature each of their product categories; sake, Spanish wines, and Champagne.
Their third portfolio tasting will be a Summer Social at the NEW Boxcar Social Harbourfront location with a collection of Terra Alta (high land) wines from the Catalan region of Spain.
They will be showcasing 5 wines, only available through private orders, all produced by a cooperative of 19 growers, all with old vines. Old vines have a deeper root structure, are more stable, and are able to access deeper minerals and nutrients than new vines. Yields are also smaller resulting in a more concentrated and complex flavour.
Producing these wines in a cooperative means the producers can share their resources and costs keeping them competitively priced for their category and calibre and making them great for summer socializing and entertaining.
The event will be hosted at the newest Boxcar Social location on the Harbourfront, with beautiful views, a nice breeze off the water, and great patio (weather permitting) plus delicious Spanish inspired dishes for $45 tax and tip included.
Join us for a Summer Social at Boxcar Social Harbourfront with Spanish wines August 24th, 7pm!

Because to them, ‘that’s life!’

Boxcar Social is quickly taking over the city landscape with a location in Summerhill, Leslieville, and now Harbourfront, plus two off shoots the Slip and Clocktower Bar.

The concept behind Boxcar Social was simple: Do what they love, do it with friends, and do it really well. Offering a curated, rotating list of coffees from the best roasters in the world, a careful selection of some of the world’s top wines, craft beers, and whiskies – they strive to create the most unique tasting experience for their customers. That’s Life Summer Tasting Series: Summer Harvest Table Dinner & Champagne Tasting

Toronto Common is excited to announce a special invite to That’s Life Gourmet‘s Summer Tasting Series.

That’s Life Gourmet is celebrating summer with a series of tasting events that feature each of their product categories; sake, Spanish wines, and Champagne and Toronto Common is invited!

This second event will feature 6 Growers Champagnes from Hubert Paulet and Eric Rodez (all only available by private order) and a special Summer Harvest Table Dinner at Woodlot.

Grower Champagnes are sparkling wines made in the Champagne region that are produced by the same estate that grows the grapes. Rather than sourcing grapes from multiple vineyards, grower champagnes are an expression of the grower, the land, and the season.

Both of these producers also put heavy emphases on natural production going as far as using horse and plows instead of machines to work the soil and avoiding any pesticides to help maintain the health of the plants, and the land.

With a focus on artisanal, tastes of the region Champagnes, That’s Life thought Toronto’s Woodlot Restaurant would be a perfect host.

Simple, honest, and handmade foods crafted from the finest raw, local (and sometimes distant) ingredients, Woodlot will be hosting a special Summer Harvest dinner around their chefs table with a selection of dishes using quality ingredients to showcase the season paired with the Grower Champagnes available for Toronto Common guests only at $110 tax and tip included.

Join us for a celebration of summer harvest and Champagne Wednesday, August 17th at 7pm.

Woodlot offers simple, honest, handmade foods crafted from the finest raw, local (and sometimes distant) ingredients.

Their kitchen revolves around a handbuilt wood-fired oven, which produces a selection of sourdough breads and creative Canadian Comfort food.

Woodlot features two seasonally evolving menus: the first with offerings from their artisanal Meat purveyors and a second dedicated to all their Vegetarian friends. They also have a large and ever evolving selection of intriguing natural wines, microbrewery beers, and seasonal cocktails to match the food and ambiance. Their focus is on making all their guests feel completely comfortable and at home in their space.

Ryoji Ramen & Izakaya‘s EPIC Ramen Tasting Returns with Toronto Common!

May 31st, 7pm, June 28th, 7pm, July 26th, 7pm

As part of our Anniversary celebration we launched our Epic Ramen Tasting and it sold out so quickly we knew we needed to add more.

Ryoji’s ramen tasting has been one of the most popular and longest running events on Toronto Common, while the EPIC ramen tasting was amazing, it was also a little wasteful so we’ve made one slight change to this event.

Instead of the Tonkostu, Spicy Miso, and Garlic Oil ramen, which are the same broth and noodle with the addition of a signature sauce.Ryoji will be offering their Garlic Oil and Spicy Miso topping to be added to any of the ramens for a mix and match. While Spicy Miso and Garlic Oil are offered on the menu as a Tonkotsu ramen, they are regularly added to other ramens like Shio, Shoyu and Vegetable as well.

Still over 2 regular bowls of ramen in total with 9 noodle tasting dishes plus sake for $28 tax & tip included!

  • Tonkotsu Special
  • Pai Tan
  • Seasonal Special
  • Shio
  • Shoyu
  • Vegetable
  • Okinawa So-Ki Soba
  • Bonito Tonkotsu Shoyu TsukeSoba
  • Spicy Black Sesame Miso Tonkotsu TsukeSoba

* PLUS spicy miso and garlic oil on the side.

Ryoji Ramen & Izakaya
, established in January 2013 in Toronto, but with multiple locations in Okinawa Japan, is the only Okinawan-style Izakaya in Toronto.

With Okinawa’s rich history and slightly different culture from mainland Japan, Ryoji offers traditional and inventive cuisines and ramens reflective of the unique culture of Okinawa.

Simple yet delicate flavours, fresh ingredients, creative cuisine, served in a bistro style.

Staying true to the Ryoji values of gratitude, passion, and awareness, Ryoji looks to evolve their menu with appreciation to their surroundings and to continue to evolve the art of Japanese cuisine.

VEGG Day at Famoso Neapolitan Pizzeria in the Annex

Posted on Updated on

Last Tuesday Toronto Common had our first VEGG day at Famoso Neapolitan Pizzeria in the Annex with a full vegetarian, vegan and/or gluten-free menu!

At Toronto Common, we believe in the value of shared experiences. By creating micro events where people with similar interests, values, and yes even dietary restrictions can get together, we think it creates a more welcoming and friendly experience. 🙂

Famoso was a perfect location for this with their wide selection of vegetarian pizzas, all with the option for Daiya vegan friendly cheese or no cheese and/or their gluten-smart crust option with gluten-free Caputo flour formulated specifically for pizza and imported directly from Italy. And they even have dairy-free sorbettos for dessert!

And with the launch of our book a table option, we wanted to offer a variety of choices in one event. While the communal table is vegetarian since pizzas are shared at the table, vegan and gluten-free options were also available for tables of four.

Guests got to try a selection of unique vegetarian starters and pizzas as well as an Italian Soda and dessert for $20, tax and tip included! With book a table options at $80 for 4 people with vegetarian or vegan option or $89 for 4 people with the gluten-free crust option.

We’d like to thank all our attendees and Famoso Annex for hosting the event and look forward to more events every Tuesday in June! Visit our Upcoming Events page for event details and to purchase tickets.
